Description
SallyStrap is a lightweight strap used to assist patients to stand and walk, especially frail, elderly and unreliable patients.
Safety Information
1. Ensure two squares of Velcro are overlapped before assisting patients indicated by the word minimum on the SallyStrap®
2. Before assisting the patient, be sure chair/bed / stretcher/trolley is securely locked
3. The Safe Working Load is 150kg
SallyStrap Instructions
1. If the patient is sitting, lean the patient forward in the chair to enable the strap to pass behind and be brought around the waist like a normal belt
2. Secure as tightly as possible without being uncomfortable ensuring the belt cannot slide up or down the patient. Ensuring at least 2 Velcro sections are overlapped. If using the small belt, switch to the large one if two Velcro sections cannot be overlapped.
Note* Watch when securing female patients ensuring the belt sits under the breasts as may cause discomfort and slide off the patient
3. Use SallyStrap to guide patient movement when standing and walking to enable a stronger grip on the patient. SallyStrap should not be used to lift a patient i.e. sit to stand or carry a patient when walking.
